New look for 2009.
Still in progress, but feedback appreciated.
FYI, the fortunes are all ones I have actually received.

Not that my opinion carries weight, but — tidy, organized, and blindingly bright.

I also want to add that its very monotone. I know that the red theme was similar, but the color added punch. Maybe I’m a slave to borders/defined spaces?
Plus side: I really like your definition of goals and progress towards named goals. I may copy it in a fashion for my List of 31. Very cool.

Very nice. Quite different. The only slight criticism is that the “Short-term goals” and “Long-term goals” labels were a little hard to see. Maybe it’s just my monitor, or my eyes….
I do like the fortunes.

Fair enough. Those are all valid.

I like. Feels clean…like you did spring cleaning on your blog. I second the statment about the inability to read “Short-term goals†and “Long-term goals†labels – didn’t even know they were there till I read the comments.
Those two labels & lists – ST and LT goals – appear one after the other to me and take up a *lot* of space. (I don’t know if it is my browser – IE – or what.) I was uncertain as to where the blog actually started. If they are going to remain on the page, perhaps having them in separate columns next to each other might lift the blog posts higher up and direct the reader’s attention immediately from the goals to the post.
LOVE the progress meters. Enjoy the fortunes too – it fits the theme overall and adds personality.
Bravo!

Thanks, Lane. To be frank, I don’t want the “goals” to be something you see, necessarily. I prefer the subtle “What’s going on with these fortunes?” thing.
I will fix that in IE, shortly. But why are you using IE?

I don’t know how ambitious you want to be and, indeed, I don’t know how much time or energy it would take, but have you considered some sort of “Click here for a random fortune” sort of application to stick in the corner?

I think you’re missing the point of the fortunes as motivation there.

Have to use IE at work. Meh.
Maybe instead of ST and LT goals titles, they are rollover alts for the fortunes?

That’s a good idea and one I considered.
I am moving away from dynamic stuff on the site. I want this site to simply be and not interact. Flies in the face of the current understanding of the web, I know, but since I have control over this space, I’d rather have it be something simple and representative of my philosophies. I sort of see it as a design easter egg.

I really like the fortunes, but that’s because I know them.
And I like the progress bars for your goals. Fun and positive. Stress positivity and progress, even if it’s slow. Self-motivation is very important right now.
