A question which has no simple answer.

How long does it take to (add your own job here)?

For me the blank is usually filled with “…build a website (or piece thereof)”. And the answer is always, of course, “It depends.” Because anyone who works with computers knows that it certainly does.

With what words would you fill in the blanks, oh readers?

  1. “…fill a 40ml glass vial with water, at a rate of about 100 milliliters per minute?”

    Approximately 24 seconds.

This is my job. Although sometimes I get to fill 150 mL plastic bottles. And 250. And full liters. Variety is the spice of life… :)

  2. “…edit and type an amendment to a pension plan document?”

If I am going off the attorney’s chicken scratch, and must verify verbiage from the IRS Code, and am, essentially, creating a new document, anywhere from 3-12 working hours, depending on length.

If can take an existing document and add/tweak to create the document I need, about 1-3 working hours.

Minor changes? 15 minutes to an hour, including spell check and PDF creation. If Acrobat is in a good mood.
