The drums felt more seamless at last night’s show as compared to Tuesday. Considering I nearly vomited from the pressure at Tuesday’s performance and barely broke a sweat on Wednesday, I can certainly point at my nerves for making the drums a little too loud and a little too fast on my first try.
The director, producer and the principal were all very kind to me, and a member of the audience gave me some praise. Still, in my head I feel I could have done more for the show if I had any real skills. Composing and playing a live show with less than two real rehearsals meets my prescribed “Do something every day that scares you” mantra, however, so I felt like I accomplished at least that much.
I did have a lengthy conversation with the lead prior to the second performance regarding John Bonham and his incredible abilities. Having little communication with the cast until that point, I’m afraid I came off as a Zepp-o-phile, or some such, which I eventually attributed to my friend Bjorn. I tried to salvage by jumping on his Alkaline Trio sidebar, but eventually made a name-dropping ass of myself by recounting the Milwaukee bands with whose drummers I am reasonably acquainted.
Eh. Here’s a link about poop for your loyal readership.
Awesome. I’ll bet you rocked, and I wouldn’t fret too much about skill and such. It’s all about the passion man. Oh, and sorry if my Zeppelin evangelism got you into an awkward situation. =)
